FSU TO INSTALL NEW TRUE HD VIDEO BOARDS FOR 2016 FOOTBALL SEASON
Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State Director of Athletics Stan Wilcox announced today that a plan to install more than 9,368 square feet of the highest-quality, state-of-the-art LED video displays in Doak S. Campbell Stadium has been approved and should be in place by the home opener against Charleston Southern September 10. Panasonic will serve as the University’s partner in this project.
The entire structure in the stadium’s north end will be over 78.4’ feet tall and almost 120’ feet wide; the new system is three-times larger and more than two-times higher than the old system. The main screen in the North End Zone will boast a larger-than-life, true high-definition image (1080p) which represents more than a 250% increase in overall resolution. The new 35’H x 74’W South End Zone display will also entertain fans with a true high-definition image (660p), 300% larger and a 250% improvement over the previous display. The new LED screens represent some of the largest and highest resolution screen systems in any college football stadium. To complete the visual experience, FSU will upgrade, replace and expand more than 320 linear feet of LED ribbon boards throughout the newly constructed canopy and South End Zone.
In addition to the LED displays, the entertainment experience will be further enhanced with one of the most advanced new audio systems available in the marketplace today. The new sound system will produce rich, clear sound that will be evenly distributed throughout the entire stadium for the first time ever.
“We are pleased to be taking another step in making the football game day experience for our fans, season ticket holders, student body and student-athletes the best that it can be,” said Wilcox. “While our former video boards were state-of-the-art when installed, the image quality of the new boards will be second to none.
“The addition of these new boards, along with the new Champions Club, the new sound system, and other planned improvements, will make the Doak Campbell experience as exciting as it has ever been.”
“We’re appreciative of the support our Seminole Booster members and season ticket holders provide FSU which enables us to fund an exciting game day atmosphere,” said Andy Miller, President and CEO of the Seminole Boosters.
Florida State opens the 2016 season in Orlando versus Ole Miss and then will open the home season inside the newly-renovated Doak Campbell Stadium versus Charleston Southern. Tickets for the Orlando Kick Off game are currently on sale as are season tickets for the 2016 campaign via Seminoles.com or by calling the FSU Athletic Ticket Office at 888-FSU-NOLE.
