Anthony James Partners (AJP) served as Technology Consultant for the new freestanding LED pylon at Dignity Health Arena in Bakersfield, California, replacing the venue’s existing marquee with a modern digital display and signage system.
AJP provided design, procurement and construction administration services from initial concept development through installation. The new 36’6”-tall pylon features two vertically oriented 10 mm LED displays measuring approximately 18 feet tall by 10’6” wide. Positioned at a 30-degree angle, the displays improve visibility for both east- and west-bound traffic along Truxtun Avenue.
The pylon incorporates illuminated graphics, channel lettering, City of Bakersfield colors and structural accent lighting. In addition to promoting arena events and venue content, the digital displays provide the City of Bakersfield with a platform for digital out-of-home advertising.
AJP managed the competitive procurement process, including bid evaluation and Best and Final Offer negotiations. SNA Displays was the awarded LED display manufacturer and vendor.
AJP remained involved throughout engineering, permitting, fabrication and construction, reviewing design packages and coordinating the project through installation. The construction process included installation and alignment of the LED subframes, electrical and data integration, display testing and final system adjustments.
Dignity Health Arena is a 10,000-seat multipurpose venue owned by the City of Bakersfield and managed by ASM Global. The arena is home to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors and hosts concerts, shows and other live events throughout the year.
