NAVY’S FOOTBALL STADIUM GETS ANOTHER LARGE SCOREBOARD

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND — The opening game for the U.S. Navy’s football team will finally offer two massive scoreboards instead of just one this fall.

The Capital Gazette reports that installation of the second large scoreboard is 10 years in the making. The Naval Academy’s athletic director said the delay was due to a lack of money and more pressing priorities for Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The new scoreboard will have the same dimensions and quality as the one installed on the field’s north end in 2006. Both displays will measure 25 feet high and 87 feet wide. The new scoreboard will be four times larger than the one it is replacing. It cost about $2.5 million.
