ANTHONY JAMES PARTNERS COMPLETES MAJOR VIDEOBOARD UPGRADES AT MODA CENTER

Massive new displays deliver unprecedented scale and clarity for Trail Blazers fans

Portland, OR – September 29, 2025 – Anthony James Partners (AJP) is proud to announce the completion of major videoboard upgrades at Moda Center. Designed, procured, and managed through construction administration by AJP, the project represents one of the most significant technology investments in the arena since its opening in 1995.

“We’re building on our legacy of innovation with these new dynamic endzone videoboards, designed to bring fans closer to the game than ever before,” said Dewayne Hankins, President of Business Operations, Portland Trail Blazers. “No matter where you’re sitting in the arena, you’ll now have an incredible view of every play, every highlight and every stat – taking the Moda Center experience to the next level.”

A NEW ERA OF VISUAL IMPACT

  • The Moda Center’s center-hung scoreboard has been enhanced, increasing in size by 56% to 2,092 square feetof seamless LED display with more than 13.5 million pixels. The updated design features continuous screens from corner to corner, along with new underbelly displays to enhance visibility for courtside and lower bowl fans.
  • Massive endzone videoboards feature dual 24’ x 50’ corner boards joined by a 15’ x 136’ ribbon, creating 7,520 square feet of immersive displays—more than one and a half times the area of an NBA court. Each corner board features more than one million pixels, with another million pixels across the ribbon.
  • Rear-facing LED displays in the endzones ensure fans in the 300 level and upper bowl also enjoy clear views of replays, stats, and in-game content.
  • ANC was the awarded LED vendor.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

A project of this scale brought unique design and integration challenges that required careful coordination. The massive endzone corner boards and ribbon demanded advanced structural engineering, with field adjustments during installation triggering redesigns and approvals on compressed timelines.

Sightlines were also a critical factor. AJP worked with the Trail Blazers to evaluate options—including rear-facing displays and adjustments to scoreboard elements—to help ensure essential content remained visible from all seating positions.

Typical LED and center-hung coordination was required (Content Management System, PTZ cameras, signage, lighting elements, etc.), however the scoreboard became more complex with the integration of new center-hung speakers into the existing audio system. Because the original system design did not allow scoreboard audio to operate independently, AJP developed a solution that introduced an auxiliary channel, enabling separate control of scoreboard audio for the first time.

“AJP is exceptionally proud of our partnership with the Trail Blazers, dating back over 15 years to the design of the previous center-hung display in 2007—technology that has truly stood the test of time,” said Michael Rowe, Chief Executive Officer of AJP. “These new videoboards embody what we do best: delivering customized designs, navigating engineering complexity, and ensuring systems are built to last—all in continued support of the Trail Blazers’ efforts to enhance the fan experience at Moda Center.”

Continued Work at Moda Center

In addition to the videoboard project, AJP is overseeing an IPTV upgrade at Moda Center, adding and optimizing displays across entries, clubs, suites, concourses, and select “grab-and-go” locations to broaden content distribution, improve wayfinding, and enhance partner activations.

The scope also included upgrades to control room assets, highlighted by a new venue switcher and replay system for the production team, along with additional venue fiber to support the upgraded center-hung display. Looking ahead, AJP is working with the Trail Blazers to evaluate future enhancements to the broadcast control room and arena audio systems, continuing its role in advancing technology at Moda Center.

VIDEOBOARD ENHANCEMENTS FOR MODA CENTER

Dynamic LED Cornerboards, Endzone Videoboards and Scoreboard Upgrade

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 19, 2025) – The Portland Trail Blazers are enhancing the fan experience at Moda Center with major videoboard upgrades set to debut ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season. Designed in collaboration with long-time technology consultant Anthony James Partners (AJP) and installed by integration partner ANC Sports, the project will transform in-game visuals and statistical displays across the arena.

LED HUSTLEBOARDS AND STATCENTRAL DISPLAYS
The highlight of the project is the transformation of the iconic HustleBoards and StatCentral displays – an innovative feature that set Moda Center apart when it opened in 1994 – will be upgraded to dynamic LED displays totaling 7,520 square feet of screen space, more than one and a half times the square footage of an NBA court. The new screens, alongside ANC’s LiveSync venue control software, will allow for more real-time in-depth stat displays, video displays featuring player personality videos, and in-game entertainment.

The upgrade features prominent videoboards in each corner with a ribbon board display between the two corners at each end. Each corner board will measure 24’ x 50’ and feature over a million pixels, with the ribbon screen also boasting a million pixels. Additionally, rear-facing LED screens will be added to the back of the new videoboards to ensure fans throughout the arena have clear views of game content.

LED CENTER-HUNG SCOREBOARD UPGRADE
The Moda Center’s center-hung scoreboard will be enhanced, increasing in size by 56% to 2,092 square feet of seamless LED display with more than 13.5 million pixels. The updated design features continuous screens from corner to corner and new underbelly displays will enhance visibility for courtside and lower bowl fans.

“We are excited to upgrade the fan experience at Moda Center ahead of next season with new dynamic displays across the arena,” said Dewayne Hankins, President of Business Operations, Portland Trail Blazers. “The endzone HustleBoards and stat central displays were industry-leading in the early 90s, allowing fans to stay closer to the action with statistical insights than most arenas, we’re excited to continue that innovative work with these dynamic endzone videoboards. No matter where fans are sitting in the arena, they will have a great view of all the game action.”

“AJP is exceptionally proud of our long-standing partnership with the Trail Blazers, dating back over 15 years to the design of the previous center-hung display in 2009—technology that has truly stood the test of time,” said Michael Rowe, Chief Executive Officer of AJP. “Now, we’re embarking on a distributed TV (IPTV) project and exploring future technology system upgrades, including broadcast control, audio systems, and more—all in continued support of the Trail Blazers’ efforts to enhance the fan experience at Moda Center.”
