Anthony James Partners provided technology assessment, design, procurement support and construction administration for The Monument, including a major modernization of its Ice Arena, home to the Rapid City Rush. Beginning with a campus-wide facility assessment, AJP helped venue leadership evaluate existing systems and establish priorities for a 5-, 10- and 15-year technology plan, connecting immediate improvements with the complex’s long-term needs.
The Ice Arena project includes new north and south end LED video displays, an upgraded ribbon display, a replacement exterior marquee, and broadcast production, IPTV and scoring system improvements. AJP developed display concepts, technical specifications and budgets, then managed a competitive procurement process that examined image quality, power requirements, system reliability and ongoing maintenance. Through detailed bid reviews and requests for alternate pricing, AJP gave the venue clear options for improving display resolution while working within its budget.
AJP also addressed operational challenges with the venue’s existing IPTV and digital signage systems, coordinating manufacturer support and training needs while evaluating opportunities to integrate concession menu boards with the point-of-sale system. Broadcast and display control upgrades expanded the staff’s ability to deliver live video, replays, game information and sponsor content throughout the arena.
During construction, AJP coordinated with venue staff, vendors and contractors on structural supports, electrical and data infrastructure, installation sequencing and system integration. Oversight extended to display calibration, architectural surrounds, trim and concealed mounting hardware, carrying the design through to the details that shape the finished installation. Training coordination, maintenance planning and event support helped prepare venue staff to operate and support the upgraded systems.
