CUSTOM CENTER-HUNG AND LED DISPLAY SYSTEMS
In 2024, AJP supported the Breslin Student Events Center with the design of a custom center-hung videoboard and more than 725 linear feet of ribbon boards to enhance the 35-year-old home of Spartans’ men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs. The center-hung features four slightly curved 4mm LED screens joined together with tight seams to create a seamless digital canvas for 360-degree viewing and holds more than 8.5 million pixels. A 360-degree LED ribbon board, roughly 4 feet tall, extends all the way around the Breslin Center’s bowl.

In 2019, AJP supported MSU with a technology feasibility review and Capital Expenditure Plan, outlining Michigan State’s three-to-five-year priorities for the arena. AJP was also the Technology Consultant for 2012 arena LED and audio upgrades.

DISTRIBUTED LINE ARRAY AUDIO SYSTEM
In 2024, AJP supported the Breslin Student Events Center—home of Michigan State Spartans basketball—with the design and implementation of a Fulcrum Acoustic FL Series Cardioid Distributed Line Array System, delivering exceptional sound clarity and coverage. AJP, in collaboration with Michigan State University, selected C.V. Lloyd Audiovisual to assist with the deployment and installation of the new arena sound system. The system includes:

BROADCAST PRODUCTION FACILITY (3X CONTROL ROOMS)
Anthony James Partners (AJP) worked in collaboration with Perkins Eastman and Michigan State stakeholders to develop and implement a centralized broadcast production facility to support live video board shows, Big Ten Plus streaming, and linear Big Ten Network productions across multiple venues.

To meet accelerated scheduling needs, the project was delivered in two phases. Phase I included the buildout of two production mobile units: one equipped with new gear destined for permanent installation, and another integrated with equipment provided by Big Ten Network. Concurrently, AJP oversaw upgrades to the broadcast cable infrastructure at four key athletic venues—each outfitted with TVRP panels for connectivity to mobile units and outside broadcast trucks.

Phase II included the completion of a permanent production facility located inside the Breslin Center. This facility now houses:

• Three dedicated control rooms:

  • Control Room 1 serves video board productions.

  • Control Room 2 is a full linear facility meeting Big Ten Network standards.

  • Control Room 3 is optimized for streaming and additional video board content.

• A Technology Operations Center (TOC) with direct connectivity to Spartan Stadium and Munn Ice Arena.

• Twelve hard cameras, including six new and six legacy Hitachi units, delivering comprehensive multi-angle coverage.

• A campus-wide fiber backbone, providing each venue with 48 strands of single-mode fiber for seamless integration and signal distribution.

The equipment package aligns with Big Ten Network recommendations and includes Ross Carbonite switchers, XPression CG, Evertz Dreamcatcher replay, and Ross Ultrix routing systems.

A major driver of the upgrade was the installation of the new full-HD center-hung videoboard at Breslin Center in 2023. With the previous control infrastructure limited to 1080i, the new broadcast facility now enables full 1080p delivery to Breslin, Spartan Stadium, and Munn Ice Arena—dramatically improving video quality and operational flexibility across all venues.
