PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Oak View Group and the University of Massachusetts Lowell partnered with Anthony James Partners (AJP) to modernize the digital display infrastructure at the Tsongas Center, home of the UMass Lowell River Hawks. The comprehensive upgrade included a new center-hung scoreboard, full-length ribbon boards, and a control system overhaul designed to streamline content delivery and enhance the fan experience. AJP worked with UMass on the center-hung install in 2013 as well.
The new design and installation introduced over 2,900 square feet of new LED displays and 7.9 million total pixels, integrated by awarded vendor, UberDisplays. The centerpiece of the project is a custom convex, four-sided seamless center-hung display featuring 3.9 mm LED technology. The display provides exceptional clarity and uniformity for game action, replays, graphics, and sponsor content.
Additional improvements included dual 305-foot ribbon boards along the east and west sides of the arena, and a digital entry display. Together, the upgrades deliver an immersive visual environment that enhances event presentation and reinforces the Tsongas Center’s position as one of the premier mid-sized collegiate arenas in the region.
The project also included a comprehensive CMS (Content Management System) upgrade, allowing centralized control and seamless synchronization across all in-venue digital assets. The system provides flexibility for live production, sponsor integration, and campus-wide events, including Convocation, concerts, and athletics.
Construction began in August 2025 and was completed ahead of schedule for the River Hawks’ 2025–26 season opener.
