The Ross Tessera System along with the Ross Dashboard was used to drive all the inhouse LED arena assets.PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Anthony James Partners (AJP) was initially contracted by Canucks Sports & Entertainment in 2021 to survey the existing AV technology at Rogers Arena and to develop a feasibility study to serve as a roadmap toward future capital and operating expenses. The comprehensive review gave Ownership the tools needed to appropriately phase and budget future technology renovations and enhancements, providing an objective report to support capital funding requests.
The most notable Rogers Center upgrade is a massive, state-of-the-art center hung scoreboard at nearly 4 times larger than the previous scoreboard that was installed ahead of the 2010 Olympics. With 1,300 square feet of LED per side, 5200 square feet total, the four (4) 4mm continuous corner LED video displays each measure 51’9″ x 25’2.” Designed by AJP and awarded to Yaham for manufacturing and install, the center hung also features (2) angled sideline underbelly displays for fans sitting near the glass, custom illuminated header signage and illuminated acrylic face signage and camera position on the underbelly, and cryogenics. The modern curve created by the convex-shaped LED faces and the seamless continuous corner facilitates viewing from all angles and areas in the arena bowl. The board has a refresh rate of 3,840 hertz, meaning it refreshes 3,840 times per second. In comparison, the refresh rate for a standard 4K TV at home is just 60 hertz, or 60 times per second.
AJP worked with Rogers Arena to plan and design broadcast control system updates. The addition of SMPTE fiber to each JBT box now enables Broadcasters to use true HD quality cameras with a true 1080P signal.
